File name info

File names consist of the course number, 2510 or 3510, followed by L for Lab, H for Homework, T for Test, or F for Final Exam and then a digit indicating the number of the assignment or test. A final optional alpha character is used to indicate different versions.

In Case of Problems Viewing *.doc Files

The doc file viewer, wordview, can be downloaded free from Microsoft or you can use MS Word if you have it. Wordview can be found in the Microsoft download area. You should be able to configure your web browser to automatically open all *.doc files using Word or Wordview. In some web browsers, there seems to be a problem automatically opening a *.doc file using the viewer. When this happens you will see a lot of strange characters mixed in with the document's text. If that happens, here is a workaround:

  1. Instead of clicking on the blue link for the file using the left mouse key, try using the right mouse key. On many of the browsers, this gives you a menu which will let you save to a file instead of displaying the text in your browser. Use this to save the file locally on your disk.
  2. Manually start MS Word or the free Wordview and open the local file. You will then see the document with the correct viewer.
