We have used an electrically powered wheelchair manufactured by Golden Technologies. The chair was generously provided to us by Prof. Ghovanloo. It is powered with two 12 V 35Ah batteries. The joystick drives the VR2 control module manufactured by PG Drives Technology

2. Phidget Analog Board
A Phidget Analog Board supplies the voltages to the VR2 control module in our Voice Controlled Wheelchair .In the original system the joystick is connected to the Joy Stick Module (JSM) with an eight pin ribbon cable. We have bypassed the joystick in our system and once the command is decoded by our Voice recognition Algorithm, appropriate voltages are sent to the 8 pin ribbon cable through the Phidget Analog Board.

3. Phidget Interface Kit
The interface kit is used to interface the distance sensors with the system. Phidget libraries are used to obtain the sensor values.

4. Distance Sensors
IR and Sonar sensors are used to halt the motion of the wheelchair in case an obstacle is detected. The sensors are integrated at the front and back. If an object is detected at around 40 cm from the PWC the control module stops the movement of the PWC
